Grace “Laverne” Harrison, 85, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 7:00 PM, Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her home.
In accordance with Laverne’s wishes, cremation rites will take place. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at New Horizons Church, St. Elmo with Rev. PeeWee Denton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Health Department-Hospice or to the Fayette County Cancer Fund. Grace Laverne was born on July 28, 1936, in Waynesville, IL, the daughter of Melvin Donald and Lenora Belle (Parker) Keppler. She married Robert Lee “Bob” Harrison on December 24, 1980; together they shared nearly 35 years of marriage before his passing on August 13, 2015.
Laverne was a homemaker; looking after her children as they grew up. She also had several homes throughout the years in which she cleaned. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and canning. Laverne also loved to creel and fish with her husband, Bob as well as spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her son, James Sapp and wife Linda of Hillsboro; daughter, Pam and husband Clay Jones of FL; daughters-in-law, Robbin Sapp and Marie Sapp, both of Shobonier; grandchildren, Tim Pasley and wife Dana, Aaron Sapp and wife Courtney, Brian Sapp and wife Caitlyn, Zack Sapp, Troy Sapp and wife Alyssa, Jimmie Joe Sapp, Ryan Sapp and wife Britney, Nicole Sapp and boyfriend Dalton Byars, Dylan Sapp and wife Kaylee, Tammy Miller, Paula and husband Jeff Wright; and great grandchildren, Rylee, Trey, Sierra, Pearson, Parker, Aliyah, Zander, Jace, Liam, Breanna, Daymian, Thea, Olivia, Doriana, Cordello, Macy, Griffin, Carley, and Gwyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sons, Steven Eugene “Moe” Sapp and Raymond Kent “Ray” Sapp.
