Grover Bennett's Obituary
Grover Bennett, 89, of Vandalia, passed away on June 13, 2023 at St. Elmo Aperion Care in Fayette County.
Per Mr. Bennett’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Grover Bennett was born February 17, 1934 in Brownstown, IL the son of Grover and Nellscene (Willis) Bennett. Grover left school at an early age in order to start working and help his parents provide for their family. He was enlisted in the United States Army 1953-1955; serving as a combat medic. He married Evelyn Daniels on September 08, 1957; together they have shared 65 years of marriage.
Grover loved the outdoors; he loved to go hunting, especially bird hunting. He also raised rabbit dogs and loved to hang out at Bunyard’s Café; he was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Vandalia.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Evelyn Bennett of Vandalia; daughter, Teresa Carpenter of Altamont; granddaughter, Katelyn and husband Cody Ennen of Vandalia; and great granddaughter, Koda Ennen of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son-in-law, Steve Carpenter.
