Herbert Oldham's Obituary
Herbert Everett "Herbie" Oldham, 86, of Vandalia, died at 5:55
PM, Monday, April 23, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital. 
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 27,
2012 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.  A visitation will be
held from 9-10 AM, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Hohlt & File
Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the donor's
choice.
Herb was born August 27, 1925, son of Charles W. and Grace (Ray)
Oldham. He farmed with his brother Orville for many years on the
family farm in rural Shobonier.  Horses were a big part of the
Oldham heritage and they worked the farm with horse teams. He
continued to live at the farm until he was in his 70's.  He
also worked for several years at the Greenville Livestock Auction
and always talked about the many friends he made there.
He is survived by his sister Bessie E. Cole of St. Elmo and many
nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  Herb will
be especially missed by his faithful caregivers, niece Shirley
Harris and nephew Dave Oldham. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Herschel
W, Leo M, Orville R, and Charles Jr., and an infant sibling.
