James N. Pyle, 89, of Shobonier, IL passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019, his 89th birthday, at Vandalia Rehab and Healthcare Center, Vandalia.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Vernon/Tillman Cemetery, Vernon, IL with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating and military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal Rescue or the Fayette County Health Dept. Hohlt & File Funeral Home of Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Jim was born October 13, 1930 at home in Vandalia, IL, the son of Evert A. and Edith (North) Pyle. He married Ruby Geraldine “Jerry” Curran on November 3, 1951. Jim served in the US Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War; when he came home, he built his first house for him and Jerry. From there he started his own carpentry business, building homes for others for over 40 years. He was a former member of the Vernon United Methodist Church before it closed, and was a member of Vandalia American Legion Post #95.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and 2 sisters.
