Janet Marie (Summers) Womack-Alsbury passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Per Janet’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Crown Point Church, rural Vandalia with Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to family of Janet Alsbury. Janet Marie Summers was born October 21, 1954, the fifth child of James Henry Francis Summers and Velma Pearl (Jay) Summers-Scholes. Janet married Paul Womack and together they had four children; Janet and Paul eventually parted ways and she married Gary Alsbury and together they raised two sons.
Janet was dedicated to her family, beyond raising her own children she loved helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a trusted confidante, always willing to listen and offer support. Known for her forgiving nature, Janet did not hold grudges and was quick to assist others in need, whether with last-minute Valentine boxes or emotional support. She enjoyed attending BINGO games and cherished her morning Diet Pepsi, a gift from her daughter, America. Her kindness and love made her a beloved figure in her family and church.
She will be forever missed by her children, Staci (James) Litaker of Vandalia, Paul (Debbie) Womack of Vandalia, America (Tony) Enlow of Vandalia, Seth (Alyssa) Womack of Central Point, OR, Gary Alsbury of Vandalia, and Jerry Alsbury of Vandalia; grandchildren, Jaci Reavis, Khaden Litaker, Danika Litaker, Chaston Womack, Josie Womack, Jessie Walker, Anthony Enlow, Wrigsby Womack, Delaney Womack, Silas Alsbury; great grandchildren, Eli, Kambri, Ryder, Charleigh, Cortlyn, Jaxon, Aubrie, and Emerie; siblings, Gloria (Carl) Sprague, Cora Jackson, Priscella (Matt) Hieser, Danny Scholes, Leonard Scholes, Ed Hubbartt, Marsha Hipsher, Mary Sidwell, Alice Miles; step children, Schallon Alsbury and Damien Alsbury; many-many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Stormy Alsbury; siblings, Jim Summers, Jack Summers, Jerry Summers, Jessi Maxine Crager, and David Summers.
