Janet Wise's Obituary
Janet Mae Wise of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, formerly of Mulberry Grove, IL passed away due to sudden illness December 7, 2024 at HSHS St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL; she was surrounded by her loving daughters when she went home to be with Jesus.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the First Christian Church of Greenville, IL with John Heston officiating. Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-12:00 PM, Saturday, at the church. Born on July 3, 1950 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Myrna E. (Hoffman) and Archie Sherbert. Moving to Illinois in 1954, she attended rural public schools and was a graduate of Vandalia High School class of 1968. She married Gary E. Wise in Mulberry Grove, IL, May 26, 1974, he preceded in death September 3, 2007.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Greenville, IL. Janet was employed by and was the outreach coordinator for C.E.F.S. in Vandalia, IL for 23 years; retiring in 2013 and moving to Pigeon Forge, TN. Janet was also a member of Smoky Mountain Bible Church in Sevierville, TN. She enjoyed genealogy, playing BINGO, sewing, gardening, baking, helping those in need, and in support of her daughter Lynette was very active in the Special Olympics.
Surviving her are four loving daughters, Mary K. Riggs Voss (Karl) of Breese, IL, Lynette J. Wise of Pigeon Forge, TN, Nicolette L. Woodrum (Shawn) of Carlyle, IL, and Kolette M. Ball (Jason) of Sevierville, TN; brother, Lowell Dean Grisham (Mary-Ellen) of Alton, IL; 16 grandchildren, Grant Riggs, Gabrielle “Elle” Riggs, Kaleb Bell, Ezekiel “Zeke” Bell, Ava Woodrum, Lincoln Woodrum, Emma Woodrum, Gracie Woodrum, Michael Woodrum, Gretta Hill, Abraham Hill, Malachi Ball, Maverick Ball, Bryce Ball, Eleicia Ball and Ezekiel Ball; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Errol L. Grisham; sisters, Karen L. Grisham Haseltine, Sharon A. Carman; and aunt, Louise Sherbert.
Memorials may be donated in memory to 6:35 Food Pantry Vandalia, IL, Smoky Mountain Region Area 33 Special Olympics or Smoky Mountain Bible Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends in Tennessee at a later date.
