Gerald Dean “Jerry” Evans, 70, of Vandalia, IL passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Northside Christian Church, Vandalia. Interment will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00- 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the church. Memorials may be made to Warrior Nation Cancer Foundation. Gerald Dean Evans was born on July 03, 1951 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Royce K. Evans and Madeline (Causey) Evans Blake. He married Tracy Ladon Dilley on January 11, 1996 in Mt. Vernon; together, they shared 25 years of marriage.
Jerry was quite the tradesman; working as a mechanic and carpenter over the years. He was a very outgoing man and enjoyed camping, boating, drinking beer, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Evans of Vandalia; children, Karen Martin of TX, Angel and husband Cleve Ellis of Mt. Vernon, Jerri and husband David Heierman of UT, Michelle and husband Bryan Walker of SC, Lyndsay and husband Anthony Lach, Jamie and husband Josh Brooks, Lacey Merrill, Gauge Jarrett and Nikki Nukem, Katlyn Evans and BJ Tedrick, Justin Evans and Shyla Warren, Chase Evans and Kaylin Robinson, and Dawsyn Evans and Jacob Korves, all of Vandalia; brothers, Curtis Evans, Bob Evans, and Donald “Buffy” Evans, all of Vandalia; sisters, Betty Litaker of Vernon and Margie Litaker of Louisville; 25 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Britton Merrill; brothers, Kenneth Evans, Charles Evans, Troy “Wes” Evans, and Richard Evans; and sister, Carolyn King.
