Jerry Summers' Obituary
Jerry M. Summers, 65, of Vandalia, died on Thursday, Jan. 26,
2012, in the Fayette County Hospital emergency room in
Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at noon
on Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Lovin officiating
and military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post
95 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9-11:45 a.m. on Monday
at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: The
family.
Mr. Summers was born on Oct. 1, 1946, in
Vandalia, the son of James Henry Francis and Velma Jay Scholes
Summers. He married Sherry Britton on Dec. 1, 1966, in
Vandalia.
He was the former owner and operator of
JS&B Excavating and Demolition Service. He served in Vietnam
with the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Brice
Summers and his wife Carrie of Vandalia, and Brandt Summers and his
wife Erica of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Brenna Summers of Vandalia;
brothers, Jim Summers and his wife Linda of Decatur, Jack Summers
and his wife Jeannie of Vandalia, and David Summers and his wife TJ
of Altamont; sisters, Maxine and her husband Bob Crager of
Vandalia, Janet and her husband Gary Alsbury of Vandalia, and
Gloria and her husband Carl Sprague of Shobonier; and
grandchildren, Jesse, Cheyenne, Colton, Shelbe, Cameron, Zachary,
Chandler and Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
and siblings, Laverne, Bobby and Wilma Summers.
