John R. Frier, 62, of Shobonier, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 01, 2023 at his home.
Per John's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 20, 2023 at OB’s Place in Shobonier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post #543. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
John Richard Frier was born on October 29, 1960 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Charles Gustav Frier II & Bernadine Ann (Nowak) Frier. He married Laura Ann Manley on June 25, 2015; together they enjoyed 8 years of marriage.
John was a Correctional Officer for Illinois Department of Corrections; retiring from Graham Correctional Center, Hillsboro. He was currently employed as a part-time bartender at OB's Place, Shobonier.
John was a proud United States Army Veteran having served from 1980-1984 and member of Patoka American Legion Post #543. John grew up with a love for horses and carried that love throughout his life. He was also quite the jokester, always bringing a smile to the face of those around. More than anything, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Frier of Shobonier; step-children, Mindy & husband Steve Weems of Arnold, MO, Anne Feuerborn of Union, MO, John Feuerborn & wife Stephanie of Springfield, MO, James Feuerborn & wife Jessica of St. Clair, MO, and Ralph J. Feuerborn II & wife April of Marshfield, MO; brother, Charles G. Frier III of St. Louis, MO; sister, Carole Frier of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Tristan, John Boy, Ashton, Avalynn, Douglas, Madisyn, Ralphie, Abby; and great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Rose.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
