Judith A. Crawford, 77, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 3:35 AM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at SBL Fayette County Hospital ER.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Judith Anne Bessler was born on September 24, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of George and Janette (LeClercq) Bessler. She married David Lynn Crawford on May 24, 1968. Together, they celebrated nearly 55 years of marriage.
While living in the Chicago area Judy was a mother and homemaker raising their four children. After moving back to Vandalia in 1990 she and David owned and operated Old Capitol Vending and for a time she ran her own business Mrs. C vending.
Judy enjoyed cooking, writing recipe books, and hosting family gatherings. She had an avid love for Harry Potter, quilting, and making doll clothes to give to children. She was also a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vandalia.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by her husband David Crawford; son, Andrew Crawford & Dorothy; daughter, Susan Crawford; son, Joseph Crawford & wife Candy, all of Vandalia; sisters, Mary Rierson, Jean Bessler, Kay Bessler, and Cheryl Riley; brother, Rodney Bessler; 8 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Mary Grace.
