Kay Hulskotter's Obituary
Kay P. Hulskotter, 80, of Vandalia, passed away at her home on December 21, 2023.
A private family funeral will be held at Hohlt & File Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Weaver and Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church or Evans Public Library. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Kay Pauline Daniels was born March 23, 1943 in Vandalia, daughter of Kenneth P. and Ada “Pauline” (Cowger) Daniels. She married Derald John Hulskotter on July 27, 1963 at the First Baptist Church in Vandalia; together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Kay worked at the Farmers & Merchants Bank when she and Derald got married; she then stayed home to raise their children. After the kids were in school Kay worked in home healthcare. Derald and Kay are members of Unity Baptist Church, formerly the First Baptist Church of Vandalia.
Kay was an avid reader, often checking out several books at once and accidently checking out the same book more than once; she loved visiting the Evans Public Library. Kay and Derald were “snow birds”; they loved spending time at their home in Bonita Springs, FL; where they made wonderful friends in their beachside community.
Kay Hulskotter is survived by her husband - Derald Hulskotter of Vandalia; Siblings - Alan Daniels and wife Judy of Houston, TX, Janet Spires of Washington; Children - Randy Hulskotter and wife Patty of Sherman, David Hulskotter and wife Ludmila of Springfield, Lori Williams and husband James of Robertsdale, AL; Grandchildren - Zachary Hulskotter of Dallas, TX, Kayla Williams of Houston, TX, Adam Hulskotter and wife Kayla of Chatham, and Ethan Williams of Robertsdale, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Kelly; brothers-in-law, Jim Kelly and Myrle Spires.
