Kenneth Edward Rees, 68, of Vandalia passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
A funeral service will be held at 10am, Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia & the Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
Kenneth Edward Rees was born June 13, 1951 in East St. Louis, IL, son of, Vernon Kenneth and Betty Louise (Lang) Rees. Kenny completed an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and Auto Mechanics; and was a retired Dietary Supervisor for Vandalia Correction Center. Kenny proudly served his county as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He married Virginia Peralta February 16, 1974 in the Philippines. Together they shared nearly 46 years of marriage and raised four sons. Kenny was a loyal member of the Vandalia Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95 and Vandalia VFW Post #3862.
He is survived by wife, Virginia Rees of Vandalia; sons, Eduardo Rees of Vandalia, Ray Rees of Brownstown, Ricky Rees and wife Lindsay of Vandalia, and Richard Rees and fiancé Ashlee Schumacher of Vandalia; grandchildren, Sara, Zachary, Alex, Nora, Tai, Jasmine, Kaleb, Seth, Emily, Lillian, Annalyn, and Dominic Rees; great grandchildren, Jacob, Kaden, Layla, Tala, and one on the way; brothers, Rodney Rees and Donnie Rees; and sister, Karen Rees.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
