Larry Grubaugh's Obituary
Larry L. Grubaugh, 82, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at his home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor David Kellogg officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Beecher City. Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM-11:00AM, Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the First Pentecostal Church, where Larry was a devout member. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Larry Laverle Grubaugh was born on June 08, 1943 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Clarence Samuel “Babe” and Eva Ermadelle (Koonce) Grubaugh. He married Janet Marie Logue on March 02, 1968 in St. Elmo. Together they raised two daughters and celebrated 41 years of marriage before her passing on November 05, 2009.
Larry was a proud military veteran, having served in the United States Army. After his discharge, he married the love of his life and they soon started their family. Among being a husband and father, Larry was a laborer for many years at John Crane Inc., Vandalia; retiring in 2003. He enjoyed collecting and assembling train sets, wood working, camping, fishing, and singing. Most of all, Larry cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He will forever be remembered by his daughter, Tammy Brown of Vandalia; daughter, Norma and husband Terry Olmstead of Vandalia; grandchildren, Clarissa and husband Zach Longwell of Salem, Marissa and husband Jesse Chancellor of Topeka, KS, Hannah Brown of Vandalia, Jachin Brown of Vandalia; great-grandchildren, Kathan, Zander, Zayden, Aaliyah, Nova and one on the way.
Mr. Grubaugh was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Donald Grubaugh; sisters, Doris Brule, Norma Ray, Josephine Adams, and Elrena Rathbone.
