Vandalia - Lawrence Ray Radliff 77, of Vandalia passed away at 9:31 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015 at home. A service to celebrate Ray's life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Unity Baptist Church Vandalia, Hw Read Obituary
I will miss seeing Ray around town. I remember him from my very early life growing up and now in his very late life. He was always kind to me and we shared the same sense of humor! He helped me on an oil project and I am very sorry you lost him. I think he was very brave and fought a long hard battle! I am sorry for your loss. I pray Jesus will fill your heart, where he has left a hole.

He was always a kind, friendly gentleman, as well as being so successful in parenting and his vocations/careers. May you find peace knowing that he had a wonderful life, is not suffering anymore, and is with our Lord.

Jon, Mike, Bryan & Families: Words cannot express my sympathy to you. Your dad was one in a million, and I have so many great memories of time spent at his house at the lake. Jon, you gave me one of the greatest gifts ever when you and your dad came to visit me a few weeks ago and reminisce after 30 some years. It seemed like we picked up right where we left off, and I'll treasure those 90 minutes forever. To all of you boys, I see a bit of Ray in all of you; Mike - the financial genius and athlete; Bryan, the thrill seeker; and Jon, the charisma and charm that makes you who you are and your ability to light up a room with a big grin. When I visited with him, he had nothing but praise and love for you boys and your families. May God comfort you all.
As Mike and I discussed over the phone, our 61'Millikin football team had a special bond. Our reunions, every five years, were well attended and enjoyed by all. Ol' #82 played an important role in that undefeated season for us. He played with intensity, but I most remember how he could make us laugh, even when we really didn't feel like laughing.
At our reunions, we could always count on Ray to tell us one of the best stories [and there were many being told]. I'd bet that Coach Shroyer already told him to "get his b--t over here!" to Ray as he is putting together his team up there right now.
I know your family will miss him greatly...and so will we.

What a marvelous picture that has now been brought back to life again in heaven! Jon, Mike, and Bryan I don't have to tell you what a good man he was. Many of those special qualities were passed down to each of you. Even though his physical suffering was heartbreaking, I am confident that wonderful moments of intimacy and bonding were experienced.
