Linda Ward's Obituary
Linda M. Ward, 77, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Christian Northeast Hospital, St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor Rodney Caswell officiating. Interment will follow in Forbis Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Linda Marie Rine, born August 3, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Evangeline Rine. She shared many years with her devoted partner, David Voris, and together they raised five children. Linda dedicated herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother, always proud and fiercely protective of her children.
Linda was a source of comfort to those around her, offering a listening ear whenever it was needed. Her sense of humor brought joy to many, and she had a special gift for making others feel at ease. She found happiness in bird watching and cooking, and was a passionate supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all, Linda cherished the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
She will forever be remembered by her significant other, David Voris of Vandalia; son, David Klitzsch of Vandalia; daughters, Alice Gazda and husband Robert of Lake St. Louis, Angela and husband Kevin Etcheson of Vandalia, Kimberly Williams of Granite City, and Jennifer Voris with Kenneth Wheeler of Vandalia; brother, Kenneth Rine and wife Vicky of Beloit, WI; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Amy, Crystal, Andelyn, Zach, Kolton, Katlin, Elijah, Kyle, and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Sylic, Syrhyn, Mason, Nova, Ayden, Kaylie, Kolton, Tre, Kylie, Karli, Khloe, Owen, Meghan, Savannah, and Patrick; and her beloved feline companion, Harley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Rine and wife Diana; son-in- law, William Sherman; and a grandson, Brock.
