Linda Meador's Obituary
Linda M. Meador, 90, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:30am, Sunday,
July 7, 2013 at Lakeshore Villages Nursing Home, Waco, TX.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 10:00am,
Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with
Rev. Joe Lawson officiating.   Memorial may be made to
Vandalia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary or First Baptist Church
of Vandalia. 
Linda was born February 12, 1923, the daughter of Herman John
and Minnie Marie (Suckow) Meyer.  She served in the United
States Navy during World War II - she was one of the original first
50 Women Navy Waves from 4-19-43 to 11-3-45 and she served in
Norfolk Virginia as a 1st Class Parachute Rigger. She was awarded
the Good Conduct Medal. She worked at Crane Packing in Vandalia for
27 years before retiring. She was a lifetime member of the American
Red Cross Blood Bank. 
Ms. Meador is survived by her son Chris Meador and wife Sherry
of Brownstown, IL; daughters Sandra and husband Kenneth Barker of
Waco, TX, Vickie and husband John Haug of granite City, IL, and
Tammy and husband Ernie Chappel of Vandalia, IL; 11 grandchildren
and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rudy Meyer,
Walter Meyer, and Wilbert Meyer; sisters Lydia Edwards, Edna Jett,
Nora Smith, and Martha Sears.
