Lisa LaMar's Obituary
Lisa S. (Belt) LaMar, 58, of Vandalia, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 03, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family.
Per Lisa’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorials be made to Hohlt & File Funeral Home to assist with funeral arrangements. Lisa Sue Belt was born on September 3, 1967, in Pekin, Illinois, to Richard Dale Jamirson and Betty Sue (Belt) Vandenbos. She and her husband, Thomas Edward LaMar, began their journey together at the age of 13 and were united in marriage on May 1, 1999. Over the years, they were blessed with six children and shared a loving and devoted partnership, celebrating many cherished moments.
Lisa devoted her life to serving others. As a compassionate caregiver, she touched countless lives through her kindness and dedication. Lisa was an active member of the Fayette County Association for Home and Community Education and a founder of Deeds for Needs. She generously volunteered her time with both organizations, supporting the homeless, veterans, elderly, and youth in her community. Her talents as a quilter were often shared, as she donated handmade quilts to help raise funds for local causes. Through her selfless actions, Lisa made a lasting impact on many lives.
She will be forever remembered by her mother, Betty Vandenbos of Ramsey; husband, Thomas LaMar of Vandalia; daughter, Staria Smith and husband Nick of Vandalia; sons, Austin LaMar and wife Stevie of Hillsboro, Denny LaMar and wife Shayla of Brownstown, Tyler LaMar of Tower Hill, Chase LaMar of Vandalia, and Kole LaMar of Vandalia; brothers, Max Moreland and wife Maria of Cleveland, TX and Rick Jamirson of Centralia; sisters, Terri Vanewton of Texas and Charity Moreland and husband Brent of Ramsey; brothers and sisters in law, Dale and Jewel LaMar of Moline, Lila LaMar of Davenport, IA, and Kim Simer of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Dale Jamirson; grandmother, Melva Moreland; and brothers and sisters in law, Johnny LaMar, Terry LaMar, Timothy LaMar Jr., Marilyn Perkins, and Franny Schaffer.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Fayette County Cancer Fund for the generous support and donations provided to Lisa during her battle with cancer.
