Lois Merriman Greeson's Obituary
Lois Mae Merriman Greeson, 85, of Vandalia passed away on May 4,
2014 at St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Funeral Services for Ms. Greeson will be held at 10:00am,
Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Overcup Baptist Church, rural Vandalia
with Rev. Doug Wodkta officiating. Burial will follow in
Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from
6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Hohlt & File Funeral
Home, Vandalia, IL and one hour prior to services at the church
Thursday. Memorials may be made to Overcup Baptist Church or
the 6:35 Food Pantry in Vandalia.
Lois was born May 15, 1928 in Sefton Twp, Fayette County, IL the
daughter of John and Rosa (Carson) Merriman. She was a former
owner/operator Bouquet Flower Shop in Vandalia; manager of the
Vandalia Holiday Inn in the 1970s; and former owner/operator of Act
3 Beauty Salon in Burlington, NC; she also was a founder of the
Vandalia Soroptimist Club; she enjoyed cooking and fishing,
especially with her grandchildren and was a member of Overcup
Baptist Church, rural Vandalia.
Lois is survived by her daughters Nancy and husband Ken Gebke of
Vandalia, IL and Becky and husband Paul Justad of Graham, NC;
brothers Jim Merriman and wife Marilyn of Mobile, AL and Tim
Merriman and wife Lisa of Ft. Collins, CO; sister Rosemary Gerkin
and the late Dennis Gerkin of Vandalia, IL; grandchildren Tammy and
husband Brian Westendorf; Ted Thompson and wife Angie; Abbey
Thompson, wife of the late Todd Thompson all of Vandalia; AJ Justad
and wife Laura of Los Angeles, CA; Anton Justad and wife Erin of
Jamestown, NC; Micah Justad and fiancé Kristen of Lake Mary, FL;
Andrew Justad and wife Joshlynn of Graham, NC; Jahde Justad of
Wilmington, NC; Keith Gebke and wife Nina of Richview, IL; Todd
Gebke and wife Gennie of Belleville, IL; great grandchildren Brandi
and Shawn Cripe; Brittany and Tyler Ondes; Tyler and wife Megan
Westendorf; Dalton Goldsboro; Drake Thompson; Gracie Morrison;
Lexie Morrison; Dalton Wehrle; Drew Thompson; Brandon Gebke and
wife Sarah; Caleb Gebke and wife Jessica; Megan Gebke; Carly Gebke;
great-great grandchildren Macy Cripe; Maddi Cripe; Thacker Cripe;
Cayden Ondes; Colton Ondes; and Harper Goldsboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Todd
Thompson, granddaughter Laura Wiss, and brother-in-law Dennis
Gerkin.
