Lola M. Gehle's Obituary
Lola M. Gehle, 82, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 5:40 PM, Monday, March 27, 2023 at SBL Fayette County Hospital LTC.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, March 31, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Shobonier with Pastor Hoehler officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00AM- 12:00 PM, Friday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Lola Maude Meador was born on June 29, 1940 in Vernon, IL, the daughter of Wilmer E. and Marie A. (Morey) Meador. She married Leonard Carl Gehle, at the age of 16, on June 30, 1956. Together, they celebrated 66 years of marriage and raised four children.
Lola was a retired school bus driver for Vandalia Community School District #203. She had an avid love for gardening, quilting, and bowling. Over the years, Lola enjoyed traveling and the many camping trips she shared with her husband. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Lola was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Gehle is survived by her husband Leonard Gehle; daughters, Deborah & husband Max Durbin and Jo and husband Leon Haslett, all of Vandalia; sons, Scott Gehle & wife Kathy and Brent Gehle and wife Rhonda, both of St. Peter; grandchildren, Kris Holman (Dave), Sarah Webber (Johnny), Emily Braman (Joshua), Jacy Richardson (Brent), Joshua Lineberry (Kayla), Alyssa Kruenegel (Tyler), Brittany Rigdon (Zach); step-grandchildren, Chad Haslett, Tricia Miller, and Jason Haslett; great-grandchildren, Devin Holman, Leila Webber, Leyton Webber, Parker Braman, Maverick Braman, Reese Richardson, Bryn Richardson, Emma Lineberry, Ryker Lineberry, Rhett Lineberry, Kanden Tompkins, Baya Tompkins, Grace Kruenegel, Rhen Rigdon, and Baker Rigdon; step great-grandchildren, Kaden Caraway and Elizabeth Miller; and great-great-grandchild, Avery Holman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Randall Meador, Ray Meador, and Sammy Meador; and a sister, Melba Caudle
