Lola Garland's Obituary
Lola I. Garland, 95, of Vandalia passed away February 1, 2016 at
her home at Brookstone Estates in Vandalia.
In honoring her wishes her body will be cremated and a memorial
service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Holy
Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with burial to follow in Fairlawn
Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the donor's
choice.
Lola was born May 23, 1920, in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Aaron
and Nora (Supinger) Snow. She was married to her first
husband Mr. Reed, and together they had two children. After
his passing she married Lonnie Garland January 25, 1948, and he
passed away February 10, 1964. Lola waitressed over the years
at Jays Restaurant, the Patio and Robins Cafe, she also worked at
Princess Peggy Dress Factory and Brockway in Vandalia, she was a
member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Lola was a faithful
friend and in her free time enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her sons Robert "Bob" Garland and wife Sharon
of Ponchatoula, LA and Willis "Bill" Garland and wife Trudy of
Decatur, IL; daughters Mary (Reed) Bond of Decatur, IL and Lorilee
and husband Max Kettler of Denver, CO; several grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Jack
Reed, and brother Aaron Snow.
