Lorene Hoffman was born on November 04, 1918 near Vandalia, IL, the youngest of Clarence and Lydia Cunningham Hoffman’s three daughters. Lorene married Lloyd L. Brown on December 20, 1939; together they celebrated nearly 49 years of marriage before his passing on August 13, 1987.
Lorene was a farmer’s wife, but also worked out of the home, first at Princess Peggy dress factory, then when it closed, went to work at the drapery factory. At home, on the family farm, in Mulberry Grove, she and Lloyd raised chickens, hogs, and Registered Hereford cattle.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia (now Unity Baptist Church), serving as the secretary for her Sunday school class, the adult quarterly class, when she was able to attend. She was a devout member of the Mulberry Grove Red Hat Society, the Greenville Garden Club, and the Lucky 13. Lorene was also a proud Pink Lady at the Fayette County Hospital. She loved working in her flower garden, sewing, playing piano, card games, and BINGO.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughters, Saundra and husband Ronald Moreland of Taylorville and Nina and husband Max Branum of Edinburg; grandchildren, Ronald L. Moreland, Stephanie Lowe, Matthew Branum, and Nicole Moore; and great-grandchildren, Dariess, Madelyn, Oliver and Sylas.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Erma Baumann and Clara Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Katie, and Andrew.
