Lyle Edgecombe's Obituary
Lyle Burton Edgecombe, born September 22, 1931, in Macon County, Illinois, passed away on April 12, 2026 at his home in Ramsey, Illinois. He was a man who could always be counted on, whether at home, at work, at church, or among friends, and most importantly, for his family.
Lyle grew up in Macon County and graduated from Nokomis High School before answering the call to serve his country with the United States Army in Korea. After returning home, he built a long and successful career in farm implement and equipment sales and service, eventually retiring from GSI. Throughout his working years, Lyle earned a reputation as someone who was genuinely kind, always willing to lend a hand, and blessed with a great sense of humor that made everyone around him feel at ease.
Lyle married the love of his life, Peggy in 1955, and they shared 58 wonderful years together before her passing in 2013. He was a proud father to his sons, Kent Edgecombe (Byron) and Kevin Edgecombe (Ann), and an even prouder grandfather to the group he lovingly called "Edge's 5": Courtney Richardson (John), Will Edgecombe (Andrea), Kaylee Skinner (Logan), Craig Edgecombe (Casey), and Annie Edgecombe. He was also an equally proud great-grandfather of six: Carter and Coulson Skinner, Kendall and Cooper Richardson, and Wells and Carter Edgecombe.
If you knew Lyle, you knew about his love of golf. To say it was a hobby would be an understatement. Golf was his passion, plain and simple, and he played well into his nineties. The friendships he built on the course over the decades were among his most treasured, and many of those long-time buddies remained close to him throughout his life.
He is survived by his sons, Kent and Kevin; his sister, Ellen Witbart; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; his parents, Robert and Esther Edgecombe; his brothers, Gene, Bobby and Gayle Edgecombe; and his sister, Christine Burton.
Lyle was a faithful member of Liberty Church, and his deep love for the Lord guided every part of his life. He now rests in the arms of his Savior, reunited with those who went before him.
Memorial service details are to be scheduled for a summertime celebration of life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Liberty Church - Bingham at P.O Box 141 Ramsey, IL 62080. Online condolences can be expressed at https://www.hohltandfilefh.com
