Mary A. Hatfill, 74, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 6:19 PM, Wednesday, January 03, 2024 at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, STL.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 07, 2024 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Mary A. Cline was born March 25, 1949, in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Helen Cline. She married Leon L. Hatfill Jr. on March 27, 1965; together they shared 43 years of marriage before his passing on January 11, 2009.
Mary retired from Graham Packaging in Vandalia; there she made many friends and maintained several of those friendships after her retirement. She had an avid love for being outside, gardening, playing BINGO, and going out to eat with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her children, Jody and husband Robert Groff of Vandalia, Tammy and husband Phil Maske of St. Peter, Angela and husband David Lascelles of Brownstown, and Jason Hatfill and wife Debbie of Smithboro; 13 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; good friend, Harold Swofford; and sister-in-law, Rosetta Diveley.
She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; siblings, Roy Cline, Verne Cline, Charlotte Porter; and step grandchild, Joshua Lascelles.
