Nikki Lynn (Smith) Handegan, 36, of Vandalia, IL passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 19, 2019 at Hohlt and File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Hohlt and File Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Family of Nikki Handegan.
Nikki Lynn Handegan was born on July 20, 1982 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Edward Gene and Jackie Lee (Willis) Smith. She married Joshua Scott Handegan on October 20, 2017. Nikki was employed through the Randolph House as a home health care aide. She loved all animals and took pride in being able to rescue and care for many, especially her pet raccoon.
She is survived by her husband Josh Handegan of Vandalia; parents, Ed and Jackie Smith of Shafter; sisters, Shannon Phillips of Fenton, MO and Bobbie and husband, Arron Halford of Ramsey; nephews, Oakley Elam and A.J. Halford; niece, Jade Elam; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Voris and Virginia Smith and maternal grandparents, Claude and Rosie Willis Sr.
