Norma L. Walker, 82, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 5:25 PM, Sunday, August 06, 2023 at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with John Baldock officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Norma Lou Turner was born on June 24, 1941 in New Haven, IL. She married William H. “Bill” Walker on April 17, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV; together, they celebrated 31 years of marriage before his passing on June 06, 2010.
Norma was employed by Crane Packing, where she worked in the shipping department; retiring after 30+ years of employment. She was affiliated with Unity Baptist Church and was a member of the Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources (IFOR) and the International Association for Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Norma had an avid love for anything outdoors, especially fishing. She enjoyed having lunch with her friends and valued the time spent with her family.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her son, John Baldock & wife Tara of Highland; daughter, Cathy & husband Kevin Kern of Vandalia; son-in-law, Randy Taylor of Brownstown; grandchildren, Craig Kern, Kayla Ochs, Jacob Baldock, Emily Baldock, Brady Deutsch, Conor Riley, and Brandi Ohrt; numerous great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Debra Taylor; and son, Bruce Riley.
