Pamela Sue Carnes Jackson, 73, of Effingham, passed away on September 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 04, 2022 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Pee Wee Denton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Pamela Sue Carnes was born January 06, 1949, the daughter of Glenn F. Carnes and Lodene R. (Ewbank) Carnes.
Pam was a dishwasher at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham for 30 years. She was proud of her job, always going above and beyond for the residents who were like family; making sure each one of them got a birthday card and gift every year. In her spare time, she loved playing BINGO and knitting blankets for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and husband Willie Karnes of Beecher City; sons, Robert M. Jackson of Belleville and Daniel J. Jackson of St. Elmo; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Lynn and husband David Schmitt of Vandalia, Candy and husband Rick Thacker of Fredericksburg, VA, Jodie Carnes Weaver of Vandalia, and Judie Carnes of McCleansboro; several nieces and nephews; feline companion, Dusty.
Preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Glenn and wife Shirley Carnes; mother, Lodene (Ewbank) Carnes; grandson, Zachrey Ryne Jackson; twin nieces Kristy Lynn & Holly Noel Lotz.
