Paul Pierce's Obituary
Paul L. Pierce, 66, of Herrick, IL, passed away on December 31, 2022 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 06, 2023 at Herrick Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Huddleston officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM, Friday, January 06, 2023, at the church. In accordance with Paul’s wishes, cremation rites will take place following the services. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Herrick Baptist Church or to the Family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Paul Lee Pierce was born on September 13, 1956 in Joliet, IL, the son of Lester Ray and Virginia Faye (Morell) Pierce. He married Karen Renee Stalling on October 08, 1994.
Paul was a truck driver employed by Foundation Properties, Inc in Pana. First and foremost, he loved God, his family, and life in general; he was a very jolly and cheerful man, never knowing a stranger.
In his younger years, Paul attended Baptist Bible College in Arlington, TX; always having a strong faith and eventually, in 2016, he became an ordained minister. He had an avid love for music, especially singing in the Praise Team at Herrick Baptist Church; where he was a devout member. Paul was also a former member of the Road Riders for Jesus, Chapter #70 in Herrick; a Christian motorcycle club in which he helped initiate the chapter in 2007. Outside of his faith, Paul was a St. Louis Blues fan and loved drinking his diet Pepsi.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Karen Pierce of Herrick; daughter, Christy and husband Randy Hoover of Mulberry Grove; son, Samuel Pierce and wife Ashleigh of Jay, FL; son, Joshua Matheny of Ramsey; daughter, Natosha and husband Bill Brown of Ramsey; son, Dustin Matheny and wife Katherine of Lake City, FL; daughter, Destiny Fields of Vandalia; sister, Doris and husband Richard McGinness of Ramsey; sister, Shirley and husband Ronnie Benham of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Mark Pierce and wife Pamela of Westland, MI; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, LeighAnn Macks.
