Pete Commuso's Obituary
Pete Commuso, 81, of Vandalia passed away at 9:50pm, Thursday,
January 1, 2015 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in
Effingham, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, January 8,
2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Robert
Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon-2:00pm,
Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home,
Vandalia. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery,
Brownstown, IL with military rites by Crawford-Hale American Legion
Post # 95. Memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal
Rescue or Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Activity

Pete was born November 14, 1933 in Pinckneyville, IL the son of
James H. and Pansy O. (Tayler) Commuso. He married Carolyn
Johnson February 15, 1992 in Vandalia. Pete was a US Army
Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked at the
Vandalia Correctional Center for IL Department of Corrections for
26 years before retiring and then worked for Statewide Tire in
Vandalia. He was a member of the Vandalia American Legion Post
#95.
Pete is survived by his wife Carolyn Commuso of Vandalia, IL;
son Kent Commuso of McRae, AR; daughters Denise and husband Bill
Zumwalt of Effingham, Laurie Probst of Effingham, Teresa and
husband Doyle Powell of Vandalia, and Shelda Kaltschnee of
Effingham; brothers Larry Commuso and wife Julia Ann of Sparta,
Raymond Commuso of Indiana, Carl Commuso and wife Janet of Baldwin,
IL, Gene Commuso and wife Vicky of Florida, and Chuck Commuso of
Sparta, IL; grandchildren Christina Robbins, Lindsay Probst, Caleb
Probst, Andy Canning, Tabitha Powell and Josh Commuso; great
grandchildren Joshua, Jeremiah, and Jermaine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers JD Commuso,
Bill Warren, Gilbert Commuso, and sister Nellie Sadler
