Randal Gregory “Greg” Bigelow, 64, of Escondido, CA, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at his residence.

Randal Gregory Bigelow was born on September 7, 1961, in Portageville, Missouri. He was the eldest son of Brian and Barbara (Barrett) Bigelow. At the age of 18, Greg enlisted in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued a diverse range of careers. He gained experience in construction, working as a concrete finisher and with electrical contractors, showcasing his skills in manual labor and technical trades. Later, he transitioned into the transportation industry, becoming a truck driver for various companies over many years, which highlights his independence and love for travel and exploration.
Greg was known for his strong-willed and free-spirited personality. Despite his independence, he was recognized for his kind nature and helpful attitude, making him a beloved figure among friends and family. His down-to-earth demeanor and genuine kindness made him approachable and helpful to others. An avid lover of animals and nature, Greg developed numerous survival skills and had a deep appreciation for primitive structures and traditional ways of living. His interests extended to fixing things around the house, woodworking, and glass blowing, reflecting his creative talents and hands-on approach to life. His diverse interests and skills paint a picture of a multifaceted individual who valued craftsmanship, nature, and personal growth, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Brian Bigelow; sister, Ginny (Bigelow) Ross; brother, Timothy Bigelow; all of Vandalia; nieces and nephews, William Porter, Melissa Winiger and husband Kevin, Haley (Bigelow) Bowen and husband Eli, and Liam Bigelow; his great-nephews, Mason Porter, Banjamin Bowen, and Deacon Bowen; numerous cousins and countless friends.
Preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Bigelow.
