Robert "Bobby" Moore's Obituary
Robert E. "Bobby" Moore, 84, of Vandalia, IL passed away at
8:04am, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital,
Effingham, IL.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 4, 2013
at the First Pentecostal Church in Vandalia with Rev. Daniel
McDonald officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior
to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in
Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia following the funeral service.
Memorials may be made to Fayette County Senior Citizens Center or
Evergreen Outreach.
Bobby was born April 6, 1929, in Vandalia, the son of Joseph and
Emma (York) Moore. He married Lily (Ramos) Moore on September
4, 1984 in New Orleans, LA. Bobby was a pinsetter for
Vandalia Bowling Alley in his youth. He then worked as an
accountant for Wilson-Hamilton Marathon Bulk Station before
becoming a correctional officer in the Joliet prison. He
later transferred and retired from Vandalia Correctional Center
after 25 years. He was a member of the First
Pentecostal Church of Vandalia nan a charter member of the Vandalia
Eagles Club. He was a school crossing guard for 12 years,
served and retired from the Fayette County Senior Citizens Board,
and was involved with the Evergreen Outreach program. Bobby was
also a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, and he loved roller
skating, fishing for Catfish, and eagle watching.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Lily of Vandalia; son Wayne
Moore of Vandalia; daughters Diane White of Vandalia, Reita Benson
and husband James of Garland, TX, and Wilma Howe and special friend
Tyler Tegler of Vernon, CT; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren;
and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers brothers
Donald, Charles, and Gerald Moore, and 4 grandchildren.
