Robert Lee “Bob” Osborne, 80, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 5:45 PM, Monday, May 20, 2019 at Fayette County Hospital LTC.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 (Noon) - 2:00PM, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Hohlt and File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95.
Robert Lee Osborne was born on September 17, 1938 in Vandalia, IL, the son of the late Berthel and Hazel (Wilson) Osborne. Bob was a Veteran serving in the United States Army. He married Flora Eileen Kelly on September 26, 1970; she preceded him in death on April 24, 2018.
Bob was retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was a member of The Crawford –Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia, where he was the Sergeant- at-Arms; member of the Masonic Temperance Lodge #16, Vandalia; AINAD Shriner’s Temple, East St. Louis; The Old National Trail Shrine Club, Vandalia; The Vandalia Country Club; and member of First Baptist Church, Vandalia.
He is survived by his sons, David Richards and wife, Debbie of Johnston, IA, Kent Richards and wife, Charesse of Streator, and Robert Osborne Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Vandalia; daughters, Lisa and husband, Rob Schukar of Vandalia and Michelle and husband, Barry Schaal of Lenexa, KS; brother, John Osborne and wife, Janice of Waco, TX; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
