Robert David Wise, 78, of Mulberry Grove, IL passed away at 3:47 PM, Tuesday, August 07, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Randy Whitehead officiating, Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Military Rites accorded at graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:00-11:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation.
Robert David Wise was born January 18, 1940 in O’Fallon, IL, the son of Edgar and Margaret (Hock) Wise. He married Joyce Ann Washburn on January 01, 1977 in Vandalia. Bob was a United States Army Veteran; serving in the Army from 1957-1960 and in the Army Reserve from 1960-1963. He was a man of many trades; working as a mechanic, welder, and a truck driver. Bob attended the Church of Christ in Mulberry Grove, was a member of the Mason’s Temperance Lodge, and a former member of the AINAD Shriner’s.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wise of Mulberry Grove; sons; Darren Wise and wife Beth of Breese, and Dean and wife Lisa of Breese; daughter-in-law, Janet Cook of Vandalia; sisters, Glenda, Linda, and Ruth; brother, Rick; grandchildren, Allyson Wise, Carlee Wise, Mitchell Wise, Ellyn Wise, Keith Cook, Jacob Cook, Brittony Cook, Kyah Cook, Sierra Cook, and Raven Cook; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Paislee, Paxton, Landen, and Dawsyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Kevin Cook; brothers, George and Sonny; sisters, Rose and Mary; and a grandson, Kaleb Cook.
