Rodger W. Lovsey, 65, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 02, 2023 at his home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 08, 2023 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the service. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Hohlt & File Funeral Home to aide with expenses. Rodger Wayne Lovsey was born on November 30, 1957 in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of Lavergne Francis and Mary Ann (Mason) Peters. He married Sherrl Lynn Browning on July 06, 1990; together they shared 32 years of marriage and raised three children.
Rodger was a laborer having worked various places throughout the years. Most recently he was employed by a Lawncare Company and Wehrle Lumber Co. Rodger enjoyed anything outdoors; he had an avid love for fishing, landscaping, and mowing. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Lovsey is survived by his wife, Sherrl Lovsey of Vandalia; daughter, Julie & husband Michael Murphy of Granite City; sons, Rodger Lovsey II & wife Jessica of Vandalia and James Lovsey & girlfriend Jessica Diehl of Jerseyville; brother, James Peters & wife Sue Ann; sister, Debra Verges and Sandra Maxvill; grandchildren, Julia Murphy, Hayley Murphy, Cali Lovsey, Everly Lovsey, Mikayla Lovsey, Aurora Diehl, Bella Bruce, Lexie Lee, and Hunter Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Cheryl Hunsell, Terri Moore, Kathy Foshee, and Pamela Hall.
