Charles “Ronnie” Heather, 86, of Vandalia passed away on October 12, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services for Mr. Heather will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 17, 2022 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with Pastor Curtis Flake officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia with military honors accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Charles Rondal Heather was born September 10, 1936, in Mulberry Grove, the son of George and Rose (Swofford) Heather. He married Norma Jean Bolyard on August 28, 1999; together they shared 23 years of marriage.
In his younger years Ronnie worked at the Johnson, Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Factory; he later retired from Rural King after 40 years of employment. He was a member of the Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church and loved singing and playing music with the County Echoes.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Heather of Vandalia; stepson, Mitch Koehler and wife Rae Lynn of Brownstown; stepdaughter, Myra and husband Rich Meyerholz of Venice, FL; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson, Mickey Koehler; sister, Georgia Thacker; brothers, John, Albert, Maurice, and Tom Heather.
