Roy Vohlken's Obituary
Roy D. Vohlken, 80, of Mulberry Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Following services cremation rites will be accorded and interment will take place at Maxey Cemetery, Smithboro, at a later date. Roy Darwin Vohlken was born on July 04, 1944 in Hookdale, IL, the son of John Vohlken and Anna (Leidner) Campbell. Roy was quite the handyman, having many different odd and in jobs throughout his life. He was a well-known bee keeper and had numerous bee hives for over 60 years. Roy was also an avid Hank Williams Sr. fan and enjoyed listening to music, singing, and writing songs. He lived a very simple life and loved every minute of it.
Mr. Vohlken is survived by his daughter, Valerie Vohlken of Sesser; sister, Vera Bearden of Florida; grandson, Aaron Jones of Altamont; extended family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin Vohlken and Harold Vohlken; and a sister, Ruth Langel.
