Sharon Brown's Obituary
Sharon M. Brown, 60, of Ramsey, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025 at her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 2, 2026 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor Kenneth Morell officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 – 2:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Heaton Heistand Veterinary Hospital. Online condolences can be expressed at https://www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Sharon Marie Brown was born on August 9, 1965, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Frederick Kophazy Sr. and Mary K. (Ray) Kophazy. She married Stacy Lee Brown on January 13, 1991, and together they had two sons and celebrated nearly 35 years of marriage.
Throughout her career, Sharon worked in various nursing homes within the local area, primarily in dietary services. Her dedication to her work was evident, and she was known for her friendly and approachable nature. Currently, she was employed at Hickory Estates Memory Care in Pana, where she continued to demonstrate her caring attitude and commitment to her residents.
Sharon was known for her lively personality—she was silly, outgoing, and talkative, making friends easily wherever she went. Her caring and sentimental nature made her a beloved figure among family, friends, and colleagues. She enjoyed engaging in hobbies such as bird watching, sewing, crocheting, tennis, and playing classic Nintendo games, which brought her joy and relaxation. Above all, she cherished spending quality time with her family and her beloved pets, including Daffy, Melba, Grizzly "Pupper," and Mercy "Kitty". Her life was marked by her warmth, humor, and dedication to those she loved.
She will forever be remembered by her husband, Stacy Brown of Ramsey; son, Eric Brown with Sarah Bursich of Carbondale; son, Karl Brown of Granite City; grandson, Orilius Leone Brown; nephew, Daniel Kophazy; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frederick Kophazy Jr. and Kenneth Kophazy; an infant sister, Marleen Kophazy; niece, Sarah Kophazy; and her canine companion, Sophie.
