Shirley Ann Klay, 82, of Vandalia, IL formerly of Stonington, passed away at 2:55pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Old Stonington Cemetery, Stonington, IL with Pastor Caleb McGregor officiating. Memorials may be made to the Stonington United Methodist Church or Fayette County Cancer Fund.
Shirley Ann Klay was born on August 24, 1936 in Shobonier, IL, the daughter of Forrest and Verna (Lange) Riedle. She married Clayton Snyder; he preceded in death. She later married William Klay; he also preceded in death. Shirley was a former teacher for Head Start and was a typist for Staley’s Manufacturing. She was a member of the Stonington United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, David Snyder and wife Ellen of Orlando, FL; daughter, Sharon and husband Jim Brand of Chicago, IL; brother, Lonnie Riedle and wife Rosalee of Centralia; sister, Brenda Roberts and husband Robin of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Clayton Brand, Andrew Snyder, Scott Snyder, and Christian Compton; and great granddaughter, Ellie Compton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Alvin Riedle; sisters, Lois Dalmares and Mary Ellen Riedle.
