Sonia G. Latham, 70, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at her home.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 04, 2022 at Sharon Cemetery, Vera, IL with Rev. Dr. Ben Foxworth officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at Vera Baptist Church immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Cemetery or the Wounded Warrior Project. Sonia Gale was born on February 03, 1952 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Dempsey and Mary Louise (Denton) Prater. She married Dennis B. Latham on August 01, 2009; with this union, they shared 18 months of marriage before his passing on January 31, 2011.
Sonia retired as a Lead Lady from Brockway (EMCO) after nearly 40 years of employment. She was making the most of her retirement; she loved having lunch, going to the movies, and of course, shopping with her friends and family. Sonia was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of puzzles. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church, rural Vandalia.
Mrs. Latham is survived by her son, Paul D. Johnson and wife, Rose of Vandalia; brother, Terry Denton and wife, Debbie of Vera; grandchildren, Darian Appelt and fiancé Tyler Uphoff, Telsa and husband Will Culver, Alexis McNealy, and Sophia McNealy; great-grandson, Carson Uphoff; great-granddaughter to be, Isla Jane Culver; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dennis.
