Sybil Evans' Obituary
Sybil M. Evans, 89, of Vandalia, died at 9 a.m. on Thursday,
June 21, 2012, at her home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on
Tuesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev.
Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in
Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of
services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family.

Mrs. Evans was born on Feb. 17, 1923, in
Litchfield, the daughter of Walter E. and Estella Weaver Thompson.
She was married to John J. Howard, Earl L. Matheny and Keith B.
"Hap" Evans; all preceded her in death.
She was a retired nurse.
She is survived by sons, Ronald Howard and
his wife Mary of St. Elmo, John "Jim" Howard and his wife Alma of
LeRoy, and Kenneth B. Evans of Vandalia; daughter, Deborah S.
Matheny and her husband Jeffrey D. Jones of Vandalia;
grandchildren, Matthew Howard and his wife Rhonda of
Brownstown, Jeffrey Howard and his wife Chris of Brownstown, James
Howard and his wife Lacey of LeRoy, and Meghan Evans of Champaign;
and great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Parker of Cardondale; Brady,
Madison, Maisie, Courtney and Brandi Howard, all of Brownstown; and
Finley and Landon Howard, both of LeRoy.
She was preceded in death by her husbands,
parents; a son, Michael Matheny; and a sister, Meri Funk.
