Sylvia Burns was born on December 11, 1952 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, the daughter of Warren and Martha (Payen) Burns. She married the love of her life, William E. Lebold Jr., on December 07, 1974. Together they raised two sons and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Sylvia was a military veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Following her service, she became a Registered Nurse, employed by Fayette County Hospital and later the Vandalia Correctional Center, from which she retired. She also served as a certified Spanish language interpreter in various capacities.
She had an avid love for cooking birthday dinners of chicken enchiladas for her sons and of course, walking her canine companion Hershey. She always wanted to give back, donating blood with the American Red Cross every chance she could. Most of all, Sylvia cherished the time spent with her family.
She will forever be remembered by her husband, Ed Lebold of Vandalia; son, Jonathan Lebold of Vandalia; son Jason Lebold with Erin Eisenbath of Godfrey; grandson, Arthur Flynn Lebold of Godfrey; sister-in-law, Patricia West and husband Patrick West; a sister; extended family and friends.
Mrs. Lebold was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Hector and Cornelius Burns.
