Verna Stallings' Obituary
Verna (Himes) Allsup Stallings passed away on January 4, 2014 at
Fayette County Hospital.
Verna donated her body to science. No services are being
held at this time.
Verna was born on April 28, 1922, in Shafter Twp. Fayette
County, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Morna (Bess) Himes.
She married Roy Allsup Sr. in August of 1940 in St. Charles, MO,
they then moved to San Diego, CA where they had 2 children Judith
Ann and Roy E. Jr. She later married Leslie Stallings in
North Carolina in 1968. She was a healthcare worker,
auxiliary member at Fayette County Hospital where she volunteered
over 1,000 hours. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist
Church, Ladies the Moose Lodge, volunteered for Red Cross, was a
member of HEC. She loved to knit, crochet and donated them to
caring and sharing. She was a great seamstress, loved
gardening and crafts.
Verna is survived by her daughter Judith Cole; son Roy Allsup
Jr.; brother Clarence and wife Ella Himes; sisters June and husband
Maurice Trexler and Betty Snyder; grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, husbands, sisters Esther
Traylor, Evelyn Scott, Bernice Roe; brothers Marsden Himes, Raymond
Lee Himes, and Maurice Dean Himes.
