Virginia Walker's Obituary
Virginia N. Walker, 91, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 09, 2025, at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care.
A Graveside Service & Interment will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Evans Public Library. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Virginia Nadine Sawyer was born on October 30, 1933, in Licking, MO, the daughter of George and Alice Claria (Barton) Sawyer. She married Herbert Harold Walker on December 19, 1973. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage before his passing on July 08, 2005.
Virginia worked as a waitress at Ponderosa Steakhouse for many years. She was an exceptional cook, and her family cherished her delightful Christmas dinners. Virginia had a deep passion for reading, relaxing on the porch, and socializing with neighbors. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed doing yard work, continuing to mow the lawn well into her 80s. She treasured spending time with her family, particularly during family poker nights.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her son, Dennis Bogart and wife Linda of The Dalles, OR; son, Kenny Bogart and wife Kathy of Brownstown; son, Clint Walker of Vandalia; grandchildren, Paul Bone and wife Heidi, Jason Bone and wife Jennifer, Daniel Tyler Burtschi, David Bogart and wife Kristin, Daniel Bogart, Denise and husband Keith Harre, Josh Bogart and wife Amber, Jenny and husband Ryan Schaefer, Jessie Walker, Sierra Walker, and Cody Walker; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicki and husband Dan Burtschi; and her siblings.
