Walter Johnson's Obituary
Walter Guy Johnson Sr., 97, of Vandalia passed away at 12:45pm,
Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Brookstone Estates in Vandalia.
Services for Mr. Johnson will be held at a later date.
Walter was born March 12, 1919 in Shobonier, the son of Cotton
and Caddie (Steinhauer) Johnson.  He married Marjorie A.
Sakach on June 29, 1941 in Vandalia; she preceded him in death on
March 27, 2015.
Mr. Johnson was the owner and operator of Johnson Specialty
Company, one of the longest running businesses in Vandalia. He
served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of St. James
Lutheran Church of Vandalia; 70 year member of Vandalia American
Legion Post #95; former member of the Vandalia VFW Post #3862;
member of the NRA; he loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his children Patricia Wefer of Highland
County, VA, Robert "Mike" Johnson of Cape Coral, FL, and Teresa and
husband Randy Thomas of San Diego, CA and sister Geraldine Parvin
of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, and son Walter G. Johnson Jr.
