William “Allen” Daniels, 61, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 12:16 PM Monday, August 1, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Darryl Bolen and Pastor Keith Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 at the funeral home. Per Allen’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral.
Allen supported the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, bicycling in the MS 150 Bike Ride fundraiser for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to this organization, or to Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church, Salem, IL. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
William Allen Daniels was born July 23, 1961 in Kansas City, MO, son of William and Winifred (Weaver) Daniels and Sharon (King) Hoffman. He married Mary Amanda Meseke August 2, 1997, and together they celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Allen was a United States Navy veteran, serving as a hospital corpsman from March 1991- November 1992. He was a registered nurse for 26 years, spending most of his career employed at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL. Allen loved working in trauma ICU and ER settings. He enjoyed reading, writing, cycling and gardening. However, his greatest love was the Lord.
Allen is survived by his wife Mary Daniels of Vandalia, IL; son Bryce Daniels and wife Sara of PA; daughters Desiree Bennyhoff and husband Greg of Collinsville, IL and Carly Bennyhoff and Erik of Norfolk, VA; brothers Richard Hoffman and wife Helen of Peoria, AZ and Rodney Daniels and wife Barbara of Salem, IL; sisters Stacey Duncan and husband David of Guntersville, AL and Dawn Wright of Bakersfield, CA; two granddaughters, Sammy and Scarlett Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
