William "Dude" Swick's Obituary
William "Dude" Swick, 91, of Vandalia, passed away at 1:26pm,
Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Fayette County Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 5, 2014
at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL with Rev. Robert Weaver
officiating. Military Rites accorded at graveside by
Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL.
Memorials may be made to Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care or
to Lincoln Land Hospice.
Dude was born January 5, 1923 in Wayne Twp, Bollinger County,
Missouri, the son of William J. and Martha A. (Ladd) Swick, Dude
was one of seven children. He was enlisted in the US Army
during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he married Mary
"Eileen" (Horn) Swick on April 15, 1952 in Lovington, NM; she
preceded him in death on February 16, 1990. He was a former
member of VFW Post #3862, Moose Lodge #1447, and OKAW Valley Saddle
Club.
Dude is survived by his children, son Bill Swick and wife Cheryl
of Brownstown; daughters Georgia and husband George Blackerby Jr.
of Vandalia and Pam King of Greenville, OH; 8 grandchildren and 12
great grandchildren.
