Darrell Isbell's Obituary
Wendell "Darrell" Isbell, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina,
husband of Dorothy "Jean" Isbell entered into eternal rest Friday,
January 11, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am,
Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, IL
with Pastor Peter Kolb officiating. Military Rites accorded
at graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia,
IL. Family and friends may gather at Hohlt & File Funeral
Home at 10:30 am, Saturday. Memorials may be made to American
Cancer Society
Darrell was born September 26, 1924 in Vandalia, Illinois, son
of Lonnie Isbell and Helen Crandall Isbell. He was a retired
Assistant Vice President in banking. He was a veteran of WWII with
the US Navy. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, The
American Legion and active volunteer with many organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean Isbell; three
daughters, Sarah Lessen (Dale) of Lincoln IL, Beth Janssen of
Charleston, South Carolina and Christina Evans (Christopher) of
Columbus, OH; son, Mark C. Isbell of Forsyth IL; four sisters,
Doris (Ed) Helm and Betty Isbell of Vandalia, IL, Donna (Wayne)
Cunningham of Prairie Village KS and Sue (Don) Musgrave of St.
Charles, MO.; three grandchildren, Shelby Lessen, Ashley Lessen and
Madison Evans. He was predeceased by his first wife, Wanda Hedger
Isbell; two brothers; Tom Isbell, Miller Isbell, and one sister,
Jane Isbell.
