Dean Thomas Ruff, 86, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away at 8:00am, Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, MO surrounded by family. Per Dean's wishes he will be cremated and a burial will be held at a later date. Read Obituary
My sincere sympathy on your loss of Dean. When I was a girl growing up in Long Point, my grandfather Elmer Fewkes did his trading with the Ruff "boys" and I became familiar with Dean and his brothers. I recollect hauling in a pick up truck full of corn we picked up out of the field and getting $3 for it-a small fortune for young kids. I remember all the Ruff brothers at my grandparents funerals and condolences at my mom's -Darlene Thies. Again, my sympathy.
Dean was a great friend to our father Kenneth Lay. We remember and appreciate all he did for him. He was a great encourager to my brother and I in our farming career. The Lay family will always remember Dean.
