Donna Davis' Obituary
Donna Lee Davis, 85, of Springfield formerly of Vandalia
passedaway at 6:26pm, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at her home.
Donna was born June 20,
1929 in Vandalia the youngest of 13 children of Charles and Lillie
Watkins Strobel. Although she remained close to her parents,
she was raised by her oldest sister Tina and her husband Stanley
Miles. She married Charles L. Davis, Jr. on August 15, 1946
in Mayfield, KY. He preceded her in death on February 26,
2005.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Jan Jackson of Springfield;
grandchildren: Michelle (Jason) Root of Auburn, Shaun
(Ashley) Dennis of Kernersville, NC, and Ryan (Anna) Dennis of
Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren: Asher, Greyson, and
Hadley Root, Carson,
Michael, and Addie Dennis and Brenna Esenbock; sister, Evelena
Howard of Elkins, WV; son-in-law: Ron Dennis, Lexington, KY;
sisters-in-law, Joanne
Strobel, Brownstown, IL; Florence Davis, Temecula, CA;
brother-in-law, Robert (Mona) Davis, Chatham, IL; six nephews; six
nieces and beloved pet Bailey. She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, daughter Terry Dennis, six sisters, five
brothers, six nephews, and one niece.
Donna was employed by JS & S Shoe Factory, Crane Packing
Company and the office of D.H. Rames, MD all of Vandalia.
Donna was a girl scout leader and delivered meals on wheels. She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia,
where she volunteered her time in several duties.
Donna's greatest pleasure came from spending time with
family.
Donna's family will greet friends from 9:30-10:00am on Saturday,
June 13, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at
Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson
officiating. Burial will follow
at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorial contributions may
be made to Memorial Home Service Hospice, 720 N. Bond Street,
Springfield, IL 62702-9914 or the donor's choice.

Melissa, Dr. Randy Western's office and to friends and neighbors
who have shown their support during this difficult time.
